Product description

Kohden Sweet Aloeswood by Nippon Kodo is a Japanese incense with a particularly gentle and mild agarwood fragrance. At its heart is Shamu agarwood from Indochina, whose fragrance unfolds subtly and delicately throughout the room. The incense sticks are made in Japan and belong to the elegantly designed Kohden series.

The presentation reflects traditional Japanese aesthetics: the paulownia wood box features a Karakusa design, a classic ornament of flowing leaves and scrolling vines. It contains 40 Japanese incense sticks without bamboo cores and a small ceramic holder.

Sweet Aloeswood – gentle Shamu agarwood from Indochina

Sweet Aloeswood is the particularly soft agarwood variety in the Kohden series. Nippon Kodo uses Shamu agarwood from Indochina for its fragrance composition. The fragrance remains delicate, mild and subtle, unfolding gently and unobtrusively as the incense burns.

The manufacturer does not fully disclose the precise composition of the overall aromatic blend. Shamu agarwood forms the characteristic foundation of this variety, but this does not establish the presence of any additional ingredients or particular fragrance notes.

Kohden – passing on fragrance

The Japanese name Kohden (香伝) refers to the concept behind the series: koh means “fragrance”, while den means “to convey” or “to pass on”. For this series, Nippon Kodo drew inspiration from aromatic materials and fragrances that were once transmitted along ancient trade routes between the Orient and Japan.

Measuring approximately 14 cm in length and with a burning time of around 30 minutes, these sticks have a classic Japanese format. As they contain no bamboo core, they consist entirely of the incense blend.
