Aden Frankincense Small Grains 50 g – Boswellia carterii

Aden Frankincense in small grains is the same natural incense resin from Somalia as the larger 1st Grade quality, but here in a smaller size consisting of pure resin grains and small fragments. Botanically, this frankincense is traditionally referred to as Boswellia carterii.

The name “Aden Frankincense” does not describe the actual origin of this resin. Aden, in present-day Yemen, was for a long time an important trading hub for frankincense from the Arabian Peninsula and the Horn of Africa. The historic trade name has been retained, even though this Aden frankincense comes from Somalia.

Small grains – easy to measure

The main difference from the coarser 1st Grade selection lies in the size of the resin pieces. The small grains and fragments are particularly easy to measure and use sparingly. This is not a different type of frankincense, but the same Somali resin quality in a smaller size.

Fragrance profile

When burned, the resin develops the classic character of Aden frankincense: a fresh, balsamic and resinous fragrance with light citrus nuances, accompanied by earthy and woody notes in the background.

How to burn Aden frankincense

The small resin grains can be placed directly on glowing incense charcoal. For a gentler release of fragrance, an incense burner can also be used, warming the resin slowly above a candle on a mesh screen or suitable incense plate. The small grain size makes it particularly easy to adjust the desired fragrance intensity.
